Baikalskaya Bird Ringing Station of the Baikalskiy State Nature Biosphere Reserve invites volunteers.

Your work as a volunteer at the station is an opportunity to contribute to the preservation of Baikal nature, get acquainted with the avifauna of the Southern Baikal Region, learn to recognize its representatives, and live near the picturesque shore of Lake Baikal.

The main work at the station is catching, ringing and measuring small passerines, so your previous experience in ringing birds, identifying and counting them during migrations will be in demand. At the station, we will have to do additional work, not less important: install and repair networks, chop wood, cook, equip the house for ringing with furniture, and etc.

Most birds fly in spring (in April and May) and in autumn (in September – early October). Approximately from June 10 until the beginning of July, birds are almost not caught, and we can concentrate on household chores.
The station will work from late March till the second half of October. During the migration period, it should be at least 4 people at the station, in the summer – at least two.

Accommodation is on the territory of the station located 100 meters from the shore of Lake Baikal, in a house with a wood-burning metal oven. You can take a tent with you and spend nights in it. Meals and travelling fee are covered by volunteers.
